DORCHESTER - Leaders from several immigrant groups came together yesterday at Restaurant Laura to formally endorse Mayor Menino for reelection.
One by one, they stood in front of a diverse crowd of immigrants to praise Mayor Menino for his work in supporting and including newcomers in the new Boston. Most of them stated that they decided to endorse Mayor Menino because of his commitment to diversity and immigrant workers' rights. The crowd included immigrants from Russia, Haiti, Cape Verde, Vietnam, China, Somalia, Brazil, and Dominican Republic.
Mayor Menino, on his side, assured the audience that he will continue to promote diversity in Boston and stand by immigrants in their struggle for better opportunities in this city.
